The developer on this planned to create an apartment complex out of the two adjacent buildings: the Norfolk Naval YMCA (c. 1909), an Italian Renaissance Revival style structure, and the former Virginian-Pilot annex building that the YMCA had previously purchased in 1939 for its own expansion purposes.

CPG was hired initially to develop a nomination to the National Register of the Historic Places as a means of making Shuttlewood’s rehabilitation eligible for the historic rehabilitation tax credit program. In 2016, after several years of vacancy, the former gas and service station located at 401 Mason Avenue, was purchased to be transformed into a bookstore and cafe. was purchased to be transformed into a bookstore and cafe. Lydia Roper Home
The Lydia Roper Home was constructed in c1921 as a nursing home. In 2021, the Colonial Revival style building underwent a renovation for continued use as an apartment complex.
