Project Goals
In conjunction with Building Resilient Solutions, CPG planned to develop a flood mitigation and retrofit plan at the 1920s residence.
Project Design
The project included working with the City of Norfolk and applying for a Special Flood Hazard Area Exemption for Historic Structures.
The plan consisted of site and foundation repairs, strategic wet and dry flood proofing, reinstating historic materials, and providing accessible living spaces for the owner while taking the surrounding Ohio Creek Watershed Project and its impacts into consideration.
Challenges & Accomplishments
CPG and BRS completed retrofits and addressed the site conditions successfully, without needing to elevate the home.
CPG and BRS produced a pre- and post- disaster checklist for the owner to provide guidance on the steps to take before and after a disaster to increase protections and ability for recovery.
