Private Residential Projects

Significant private residences were some of the first resources recognized in the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places. Both individually, and as part of larger historic districts, residential property conveys much about our development as a state and nation. CPG has successfully completed National Register and Virginia Landmarks Register nominations for a variety of individual residences and residential historic districts. In addition to the recognition this offers, it also extends the availability of tax credits to owners of contributing listed properties. When the Virginia Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit program was developed in 1997, it was designed to allow homeowners to take advantage of the 25% credit for rehabilitating their historic properties. CPG regularly consults with homeowners from Alexandria to Norfolk to ensure that their rehabilitation projects meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards as well as the owner needs.
